Short film

Production Log 4

This week was successful. What had happened this week was that first of all we had received our first draft feedback on the film and it was positive and they had liked the initial draft of the film, the only changes that we had been asked to do was the duration of the back section to be shorter and the levels of the sounds on the date scene. We had also been told a idea on how the first could be structured was we had been told that what if the last sense of the short film could be placed as the first sense, we had implied this opinion and had previewed it and had like the outcome much better than the first structure. we then had created the final cut of the film and liked the structure of the outcome of it and had rendered and uploaded it at 1080p and 25fps as the standard film.

Challenges that we had faced this week was that we had an intendent occurred the music that we had original said that we wanted to be include into the date scene was non copyright music we had then later seen that the music was copyright this was show when we had seen that the YouTube notice that the music was copyrighted and was unable to play the video so we had to go back to editing and change the music to a non-copyright music.

We do not have a target for next week was we have completed out short film and made the final cut of the film and we have final the final projection of the film.

We had a team meeting throughout this week while we were editing the final cut of the short film. We had discussed the structure of the short film and had taken the idea of placing the last scene first and we both had agreed that it had made the short film so much better and it started and ended with the audience of feeling hopeful for the character.

The team performance for this week was effective to the short film in a positive because we had finished the final cut of the film before the week had finished. The editor that we had was quick to make any changes that we were told that could be improved and the director had agreed to the improvement and had supported the idea and the editor to make the changes.

Contingency that we had used this week was that we had come across a problem that one piece of the music that we had used was copyrighted, so we had to go towards our contingency and replace the music. Were we had seen this problem was when we had uploaded the cut of the film to YouTube and had got a copyright notice.

We had previewed the short film many time to see if there were any error with the footage, or if there was sound of a cut out of place, we had did this throughout and had did it multiple times when we had moved the last scene around to see if there was an error occurred. The final cut was shown on full screen as we was going to render and uploaded it for out audience to see.

The only problem that had occurred this week was the copyright music that we had used , but how I had said that we had go back to the edit final and had changed the final cut of the short film and changed the music to our contingency music.

The quality control that we had this week was the sound level as on final cut X we had placed a sound meter on the page and had played the short film from beginning to end and watched the sound level meter and every time that the meter went above 0DB it was too loud as the sound would crackle, so we had placed the sound level down so it won't go above 0DB.

Production Log 2

The success that we had this week was that we had uploaded the footage and the voice
recording that we had did to the hardware and we had placed it on editing software of final cut x, what we also did this week was that we had recoded the voice over of the short film that we had write in the screenplay. What we had also did this week was that we had edited the beginning of the short film, the middle and had started to work on the end of the film by the end of the week. We had also downloaded and placed in the non-copyright music into the timeline, what we had did during each editing stage, was that we had first stitched together the scenes, then we had added in the effects, such as the letter box effect, the colour correction, and then we had placed in the music, the sound effects and the voiceover, we had done this at every stage of putting together the scene.
The challenges that I had faced this week was not much as we had a problem with uploading the sound as the voice recorder would not connect to the Mac, this was due to the recoded being out of batteries , we had replaced them and allowed it to connect to final cut x.

The target that we have for next week is, that we would like to re-shoot some of the scene that we had reviewed and practically did not like, this was due to the lighting of the scene, what else we would like to do next week is that we would like film the rest of our short film, which would be the date scene, we would like to do this on a day after school because it would be the perfect lighting of being in the golden hour. After filming I would like to edit the rest of the short film and adding in the date scene and re-editing the news shots of the bus scene.

During editing this week, we had a meeting about the logistics for next week and the editing that we are currently doing. We had been editing on the Mac's on final cut pro and were advertising each other about the shots that we should use and were also discussing if we should adjust the shooting script, as through the viewing of the short film we had seen that that scene did not flow so well as we had discussed the changed that we should make and had used trial and error to see if the scene would flow better.

The performance that we had seen from the editor was great, as he was on time with the schedule that we did in pre-production, as he had edited the beginning and the middle of the and the end to the date that we had scheduled them to do. The directors input was supportive and about the short film and was opinioned and told the edit is the shot did not fit the film.

The contingency that we had used during this week was that in pre-production we had said that the voice over was meant to be recorded in the music department as this would have made the quality of sound more crisp, but instead where we had recoded the voice was the gallery in the media department, as this was nearby to the editing suite that we were near.

This week we had monitored the quality of video that we had recoded, as we had looked over all of shoots that we filmed to see if there were any error or faults with the shoots we had also did this with the sound recording that we did to hear if there were any errors or feedback sound.

The problems that were occurred this week was non as we were organised this week.

The quality control that we had did this week was that we had, kept a consistent flow colour corrections, what we had did is that we had kept the original shot that we had colour corrected and put the next shot side by side to match the colour correction of each shot.

Production Log 3

The success that we had this week was amazing, as we were very productive this week and had progressed a lot with the short film and did a lot with the production of the short film. As for this week we had filmed the last scene that we had not film during week one and had also re-shot the Bus scene due to it being too dark and graining, this allowed us to improve the short film significantly, with the quality and aesthetics of it. For editing wise we has successfully stitched together the whole film with effects and transitions in placed and also have placed and edited in the voiceover, music, dialogue and sound effects. We had also edited in the graphics that we have placed at the beginning and at the end of the short film.

The challenges that we had faced this week was the communication between our female cast member bother the original and the contingency were both unavailable to film during the week this was due to the exam that they had. We had asked potential female actors to be in our film and was a struggled because it was exam season and was late notice, but however we had over came this problem by asking one of our close friend to ask his girlfriend if she was available to film with us, and she had said, that she would be up for it.

The target for next week is the placed in the last dialogue , and we would be re-recoding and dubbing in the sound into the short film, this was due to a lot of sound from the cars around the area. What we also intended to do next week is to preview and check any last details of improvement of the short film this could be the colour correction, the sound or the effects. After many changes and making the final cut , we will them render the short film at 1080p at 25fps to match the cinematic that you would get out of a film.

We had team meeting during the whole week during the post production stage we had discussed and developed our short film and had also talk about what shots we should re-film, We this don the re-shot say had also had a meeting with the cast and crew during the journey to the location in southend we had discussed to the actors about the dialogue there are going to say and also talk the camera man to get an idea of how the scene would look like.

The performance from the actors has been excellent as there have followed and stuck to the script, there had also developed the type of character there where, as we see this in the scene of Grace and Tommy , where Grace had a representation of being a supportive and kind person, The director roll was great as he had directors the short film with efficiency as he had used and planed the scene according to the day light left to match the date and the bus scene.

The contingency plans that we had used during this week was the location as we want to maintain the continuities of the short as we had originally said in pre-production that the film was meant to be short in Brighton and had kept a contingency location of Southend

After edited the max potential that we had did this week we had viewed over the short film and analysed if the shorts and the sequenced and fit in and after making a few adjustments we had made the short film flow really well. The re-filming that we had also helped with the aesthetics of the short film and improves the flow between each scene.

The problems that I had gone through this week was the crashing on the hardware, what had happened was that the original computer that we were working on were, had crashed as the final cut file kept crashing as an error kept popping up. How we had resolved this was that we had transferred the hardware and had copy over the final cut pro file to the Mac.

The quality control that we had gone through this week was that we had only moved on to the next scene when we had a scene completed , as we would completed all of the first scenes first and move onto the second one. And through the production we would focus every shot by positioning the camera in it angle and taking a picture to see if the frame was in focus.
